      Matthew 15:37, “. . .and they were filled. . .”

Here is a divine truth, Jesus is able to fill. Everything else under the sun and of this world cannot fill the void inside of the person. Looking unto Jesus we see His power to fill the hopelessness and the lostness. This was a miracle in this passage of scripture and Jesus fed the 4, 000 with a few fish and bread. Physical needs are daily upon us but may we know that Jesus is able and willing to fill that need for us. David said, “ I have never the seen the Lord’s people hungry and begging bread.” God supplies and provides for His own.

Spiritual filling is what a Christian desires most. They know that without the filling of the Holy Spirit there is no power, and flesh may rule and rein. Weak and unfaithful Christians are the opposite of Spirit filled Christians. What does the church look like to you today? Is it Spirit filled and powerful or is it weak and frail? The absence of the Spirit is the church life today. His Spirit will fill us and complete us in Him. If you notice the other ‘fillings’ in the Bible: 1. Acts 2, they were filled with the Spirit; 2. Ephesians, Paul calls to be filled with the Spirit. This then should be in our prayers, “fill me with Thy Spirit”.

I am drawn to those that desire the same thing. I believe God moves us to seek and find that which He stands ready to give. Are you pursuing after it? Our desire together should make us call upon Him together to fulfill His plan and purpose. Jesus freely fed them here and He stands ready to feed us and fill us. There was a physical need and He met it. There is a spiritual need today and we need it. May we wait before Him and ask until He gives it. Then power and fullness upon us will change the church, and our society.

Resting upon former experiences will not maintain present experiences. Some look back on their walk with the Lord and had close, wonderful times and they seek to exist off of that. It must be maintained and obtained everyday. A daily time with the Lord for a fresh outpouring and experience is needed. Developing time for most is the issue. Far too many try to do a few minutes. This does not honor Him and I believe that He will not bless such an effort. We must become intense about being filled. Knowing He can do it makes us seek for it daily.

What a strong directive. . “Be filled”. He filled them here with physical and He will fill us spiritually. Seeking for every fiber from the top of your head to the sole of your feet to be filled with Him. Guided, directed and used for His glory that future generations may say the same that this verse states, “ and they were filled”.
